This ain’t my first rodeo…

It’s official – I attended my first Texas rodeo this week!  I decided to celebrate July 4th in Granbury, a town southwest of Fort Worth.  Granbury offered a patriotic and entertaining Independence Day celebration.  I had a great time meeting some of the locals, visiting the town square, browsing the craft fair and soaking up the town’s history.  Later that evening I watched my first ranch rodeo.  Here’s a glimpse:

 If you look closely, you can see two people painting a white line across the dirt.  Ranch teams received penalties when steers (other than the steer selected for the round) crossed the line.  The judges sat in the black chairs (empty in the picture) and assigned penalties for each round.
