Yes, I’m still running. 🙂 I have two races coming up soon (a 5k and a 10k) and am so excited! I’m really grateful for the support I’ve received from my sweet husband, family and co-workers. Training physically and preparing mentally is much easier knowing that other people believe I can accomplish these goals.
My running goals started about 5 months ago when one of the ladies I work out with inspired me to sign up for a 5k. She and some of the other ladies from the gym have watched my progress over the last few months. This week, she told me that I’m doing well and asked if I’ve considered signing up for longer distances than a 5k. When I told her about the half marathon I have planned for later this year, she was thrilled!
Over the last few months I’ve learned that talks by Sheri Dew make long runs go much faster, stretching makes a big difference, easing up on my workouts the day before and after a long run helps with soreness, running is actually enjoyable, my body is capable of more than I thought possible and encouragement makes all the difference.
