Areas of Wellness

I recently participated in a wellness competition at work.  The competition involved reaching goals set in 5 areas of wellness.  The woman who put the program together did an excellent job and I found the competition pretty motivating.  The five areas of wellness she focused on were:

Cardiovascular Exercise

Strength Building Exercise




As I participated, I realized that I need to incorporate more strength training into my exercise routine.  My running will improve and I will be healthier overall.  I saw a couple of strength training suggestions online and can’t wait to try them out! 



While I agree that these five areas of wellness are great, wellness for me also has spiritual, emotional and social components.  I need all of these pieces to make me feel whole.
