I Need Your Help with Road Running

I really like running on the treadmill.

I know some people think it’s a form of torture  …

but I enjoy it.  Honestly, I’m kind of intimidated by road running – route planning, avoiding cars, making sure I don’t run in isolated areas, dealing with weather, etc.  When I run outside for races, I love it!  I love being outdoors and seeing beautiful scenery.  Granted, those races have pre-planned routes, water stops and a number of participants (so I don’t worry about running in an isolated area).  I’d like to get to the point where I can run comfortably outside on a regular basis but I need your help.     


What tips would you give to someone who wants to transition from training on a treadmill to running on the road?
