First Progressive Workout

Yesterday I attempted my first progressive workout.  My brother introduced me to these workouts and then I learned more about them from a blog post by Running With Ollie.  I warmed up for about 5 minutes and then started:

I walked for two minutes after completing the set.  Once I’d finished the two minute walk, I did two more rounds of the entire set (following each set with two minutes of walking).  To finish off, I repeated the set one more time but cut each of the time segments in half (30 seconds at 5.8, 30 seconds at 5.9, 30 seconds at 6.0, etc.).  The time went by quickly and I really enjoyed the run.  Definitely will do more of these workouts.  I plan on gradually speeding up my starting speed over time – hopefully this will help me reach my 10k time goal!
Have you tried running compression socks after long runs?  I’ve used them after my last few long runs and really like them … they’re kind of like a hug for your feet and calves.  Smiley
I ordered a pair from Pro Compression and love them!  Recently Pro Compression ran an overstock special – 3 pairs of socks for $30.  I sent in my size and Pro Compression selected three styles of their “marathon socks”.  The socks arrived today!!

I really love the shamrocks and run/chat socks.  I can’t wait to test them out after my next long run!
Have you tried running compression socks?
