Smith Optics Sunglasses Review

My husband opened my eyes to the power of good sunglasses!  I use sunglasses quite a bit, especially now that the weather’s getting warm in Texas.  Up until a few weeks ago, I’d never owned very nice sunglasses.  I thought glare and slipping off my nose during exercise were normal … annoying but normal.  My husband got me a pair of Smith Optics Spree Sunglasses and completely changed my view of what a sunglasses experience could be like.

What I like about the glasses: The polarized lenses are amazing – images are crisp and there is no glare.  The frames are made from a light-weight plastic material that feels flexible yet durable.  They are a unique brown color and have a wood-grain styled finish.  I like that the shape has a slightly retro, “cat-eye” feel.  I prefer this shape as round lenses tend to make my face look rounder.  Thanks to the rubberized nose pads, the glasses don’t slip off my nose while I’m running or tilting my head down to open an energy gel.  In terms of fit, the glasses are well-balanced without creating pressure points on the nose or the temples.  The hinges open and close well and feel firm without being rigid.  The glasses are so light-weight and comfortable that I honestly forget I’m wearing them at times.

What I don’t like about the glasses: They came with a cloth bag (that doubles as a cleaning cloth), but not a hard case.  Since I keep the glasses in my purse, a case would offer more protection.   It’s not a huge problem though since I can pick up an inexpensive case from Target, Sam’s, etc.

Bottom line: I really like these glasses.  They fit comfortably without sliding around while I’m exercising.  The style is functional but still cute and feminine.

  1. I have to agree. I got a pair for my birthday (from my ever-so-generous brother and sister-in-law.) After years of buying cheap-o “disposable’ sunnies, I love the quality and clarity of these little beauties.

  2. Em says:

I’m so glad you like them!
