KOOEE! Jerky Trail Mix – My New Favorite Jerky!

Since I’m incorporating longer running distances and more strength training into my marathon training program, I’m looking for healthy sources of protein as well as healthy snacks to carry with me throughout the day. I’m so excited to tell you about a delicious new jerky trail mix I tried – KOOEE! Jerky Trail Mix. KOOEE! Jerky Trail Mix provides 20 grams of protein without added sugars, dairy or artificial ingredients – in other words, it’s a perfect addition to my training program.

KOOEE! Jerky Trail Mix was created to end the search for the perfect natural, high protein snack. Unlike the highly processed and sugar-filled high protein options on the market, KOOEE! Jerky Trail Mix includes a wholesome blend of 100% grass-fed beef jerky, naturally dried fruit, raw nuts and seeds, and nutrient rich superfoods. It’s gluten, soy and dairy free and has no added sugar or preservatives.

I received samples of the Lime Pepper with Mango and Smoked Chipotle with Apple flavors. Both tasted delicious!

What I liked: The packaging is really convenient – thin enough to fit easily in my purse and resealable. I love that the packaging style initially divides the jerky from the trail mix but the dividing seal is easily broken if you want to mix the two together. I could tell from the first bite that the jerky is high quality. Both flavors of jerky were delicious – the spices were not overpowering and the jerky did not taste overly salty. The Lime Pepper jerky had a warm, mild taste that paired well with the mango, almond and goji berry trail mix. I loved the combination of warm, peppery jerky and sweet, chewy goji berries. The Smoked Chipotle jerky tasted a little more spicy with a note of sweetness. My husband and I don’t like overly spicy food and thought that the spiciness level was great. Additionally, the mild-tasting dried apple slices complimented the spicy Smoked Chipotle jerky beautifully. I also loved that the fruit from both flavors of trail mix had a soft, chewy texture and wasn’t overly sweet. I don’t like dried fruit with added sugar – not a problem here since the jerky trail mix has no added sugar.

What I didn’t like: At first bite, the Lime Pepper jerky tasted a little dry. It was thinner than the Smoked Chipotle jerky, which may have contributed to the dryness. Once I started chewing the Lime Pepper jerky, however, it moistened up and tasted pretty darn delicious.

Ultimately, I loved both flavors of KOOEE! Jerky Trail Mix – a great combination of deliciousness AND wholesome ingredients.

    When I ate meat, I used to love jerky… now that I don’t, I’d pick all the other yummy stuff mixed in. That even looks good!

  3. Oh wow, 20 grams of protein? That is great! My PT says I need to add more protein to my diet, so I’ve been actively trying to increase my intake. I need this!

  4. I loved this review. I have to tell you something funny, just recently this week after my runs I have been snacking on a few small bites of Jerky for the added protein. However, I am loving the trail mix jerky combo here. Plus, the amount of protein in this Kooee, brand is almost double what I get with just my jerky alone!
    I may have to look into giving this a try, thanks for sharing!
