Foodie Friday: Greek Yogurt Chili Dip

Happy Friday!! I’m linking up again this week with Annemarie from The Fit Foodie Mama, Cassandra from Powered by Bling, Esther from Chocolate Runner Girl, Farrah from Fairyburger and Montana from Pretty Lil Mudder to bring you healthy recipes. This week’s theme is “Chips and Dip”. Please be sure to check out their recipes and feel free to add yours as well.

I really love chili and I’m pretty excited that it’s finally cold enough outside to justify a hot bowl of chili for dinner. For my recipe this week, I decided to combine two of my favorite things – chili and Greek yogurt. I made a batch of crock pot turkey chili for dinner and combined that with some plain Greek yogurt to make a tasty dip. Feel free to substitute your favorite chili recipe (and then be sure to share it with us!!):

Greek Yogurt Chili Dip

1 cup thick chili (if there’s too much liquid, it will make the dip runny)
1/3-1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt (I love Chobani)

Combine chili and Greek yogurt in a bowl. Add more Greek yogurt until dip reaches desired consistency.

Easy Crock Pot Turkey Chili

1 lb ground turkey
1 can chili beans, not drained
1 can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can no-salt added diced tomatoes, not drained
1 packet low sodium chili seasoning
chili powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder to taste

1. Place liner in crock pot or spray with cooking spray
2. Cook ground turkey until no longer pink. Season with salt, pepper, chili powder and garlic powder. Drain and place in crock pot.
3. Add beans, tomatoes and chili seasoning.
4. Season with salt, pepper, chili powder and garlic powder.
5. Cook on low for 6 hours.

This is a very simple chili. It won’t win a chili cook-off but if you need a simple recipe for a cold night, it will do the trick.

I don’t eat a lot of yogurt so I never would have thought to combine it with chili but this is a fabulous idea! Perfect healthy dip for football parties.
