Post marathon…

A little over a month ago I completed my first marathon.  I still can’t believe it!  Since the marathon I’ve run a couple of times but have mostly focused on weight training.  I decided to focus on weights partly to give my body a break from running and partly because I want to give my body a chance to get stronger.  I have to tell you, I’m loving weights!  I love that I can be creative in what exercises I choose and what body part I want to work each day.  Granted, it’s also kind of stressful since there are so many options but I really like being in control of my workout.  If there’s an exercise I have on the schedule but I really don’t want to do it, no sweat.  I choose something else.  Although exercise is a commitment and I don’t always feel like doing it, I don’t want it to feel like a big chore.  Being flexible with my weight lifting routine helps a lot.

I’m excited to share more about my weight lifting journey with you!  I took some “before” photos and hopefully by the end of the summer, I’ll be brave enough to show you where I started and how far I’ve come.  🙂

  1. Strength training is something I definitely lack. I need to start incorporating that into my weekly routine. I may start teaching a body pump class at a local gym so that will help.

That’s awesome! I tried a body pump class a few times and found it pretty motivating!

  2. That is actually a great idea, sometimes as runners strength training is where we lack, I being one of them! Hope you continue to see success with it!!!

Thanks, Kristy! My legs are getting stronger from the strength training so I’m hoping that will help me get faster when I run. 🙂
