Happy November! Two months have flown by since I started my goal of being more comfortable and confident in my own skin. I’ve loved my workouts but noticed that I am still struggling with figuring out my food goals. After I spent (what felt like) most of October being sick, I decided to take a deeper look at my diet.
One of my friends changed her diet and experienced fantastic health benefits. She suggested I check out a 28 day gut reset and replenish challenge run by Aviva Romm. Honestly, the suggestion could not have come at a better time! I’m on day 7 of the challenge and although it’s pushed me out of my comfort zone, I am so excited to make changes that will benefit my physical and emotional health.
I gave up sugary foods/desserts over 4 years ago and it’s made a world of difference for me. You can read more about that here. It was a personal choice and I’m forever grateful that I made it. I’ve known for a while that I struggle with white flour. I’ve tossed around the idea of removing it from my diet but never fully committed. After a few recent experiences, combined with the courage and encouragement of the gut reset, I have committed to trying to stay away from white flour for 30 days. I started on Monday…
It hasn’t been easy. Honestly, one of the hardest parts for me is being true to myself and honoring my decision instead of worrying about what other people think. I worried about the same thing when I first cut out sugar but when I realized that was something I truly needed to do, it got easier.
A friend posed a great reminder on Facebook today that really spoke to me: “I can’t control everything in life but I can control what food I put in my body.” I’m not sure where this journey will take me but I’m excited to find out! Thanks for your support!
